Dear Mr. Zimmermann,

I am writing to you about your letter of the 7th April to

Mr. Scarlett, in which you raised the question of the liability for repairs and replacements at the Rosary Hill Home in Hong Kong.

After preliminary consultation with the war Office, we referred to the Covernor of Hong Kong. We have now received from the Governor an interim reply indicating that the matter will require detailed consideration and that it may be some time before he will be in a position to reply fully. You will no doubt wish to keep your Headquarters informed of the present position and to assure them that the matter is not being overlooked.
